East St. Paul Community Funspiel

On January 26, 2019, the East St Paul Lions and the East St Paul Curling Club hosted their annual ESP Community Funspiel. This is a fun event where the proceeds go to the Lions Club to service the needs of local people and the Curling Club to support recreation in ESP. It consists of 2 four end games and a delicious meal catered by our one and only Grrrumpy’s Café & Pizza. In this event scores are decided, not by who is closest to the button, but by opening an envelope and counting your rocks in the area indicated. The only skill required is to be able to laugh and have fun. All participants scored 100% as laughter filled the ice area and the lounge throughout the evening.

The curlers also participated in a Turkey Shoot. The goal was to get their rock closest to the pin with the top two curlers winning a prize. Prizes were also awarded to the team with the best score and the team with the not so best score. The winners were as follows:

1st Place in the Turkey Shoot – Don Swistun
2nd Place in the Turkey Shoot – Eric Dyck
Best Score – The Walters Rink
Not So Best Score – The Troy Domenco Rink

The winning didn’t stop there though. There were 13 amazing silent auction prizes and a door prize which thrilled all those who held the winning tickets.

None of this would have been possible without the generosity of our sponsors. We would like to thank the following businesses and individuals for their support.
